In just three years, Christian Wallis, CEO of Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD), has revitalized the district and elevated its profile as leaders in community health. Inheriting a fragmented staff, Mr. Wallis reorganized the district, fostering unity and a shared sense of direction and purpose among employees.

Under his guidance, GHD has launched groundbreaking initiatives including a Rural Health Discharge Program to reduce hospital readmissions, the expansion of a Nurse Triage program to improve patient care and reduce emergency department wait times, and a forthcoming Family Medicine Residency Program. GHD's Health & Wellness Library has been revitalized under Mr. Wallis’s leadership, now offering hundreds of free community health and wellness programs annually. Additionally, he’s spearheaded improvements to rural public transportation, ensuring access to the region's only health clinic, and organized a comprehensive study of the healthcare workforce, to identify and address future needs.
